Introduction:

I find it interesting that most of the wisdom and advice given is focused on what, not how. Above there are three quotes from Benjamin Franklin. All three are timeless advice for life. All three are jumping off points to great insights concerning a good life. All three set your vision for a horizon that you may never reach on your own, without someone to show you the way.

What sets the followers of Jesus apart from others who follow different ideologies? When you have a personal relationship with the Living God, who is the "author and perfector of our faith..." you get to live with Him and learn how to achieve these awesome goals in our lives. 👊

However, many times Jesus would simply say "follow me" with no explanation of how to manage the journey ahead. This is why Paul said in 2 Cor. 5:7 "We live by faith, not by sight..." Trusting the Creator requires faith that He will reveal the "how" during the journey. The journey is filled with the lessons that we grow and learn from.

Paul gives us important insights into one of the most key factors we all must master when answering the call to "Follow Jesus". We must get our minds and our thinking renewed and focus upon the right messages to be able to walk in faith.

  • Start planning your next step into goals: three-day, three-week, and three-month goals around what you are hearing from God each day...

  • Create an outline of your core values that will guide you along your journey

  • Write and tell your new story to family and friends (accountability)

  • Pick a departure date and stick to it...

  • Use a journal to write down your insights, plans, obstacles, and victories to create a faith journal...

  • Live by faith with God being your back-up plan...

  • Make a call to action and give others the opportunity to join you and their next great adventure

  • Take time every day to prayer and review of what God is telling you to do
